A Scottish kitchens and bathrooms company that has appearerd in Channel 4’s Grand Designs and BBC’s Scotland’s Home of the Year, has undergone a management buy-out.

Edinburgh-based Kitchens International is investing in three new showrooms across Scotland this year after it was bought out by former director Graham Johnston from James Donaldson Group, the Glenrothes timber company.

The showrooms include an appointment-only design studio at Orwell Farm, Loch Leven, and others in Edinburgh’s Morningside and Glasgow’s West End. The expansion will take the payroll to 40.

A new advisory board to guide the company’s leadership comprises entrepreneur Colette Grant, chef and restaurateur Tony Singh, restaurateur, marketing leader Emma Aitken, and recruitment and technology specialist Martin Ewart.

Kitchens International was founded in 1994 and works with high-profile British furniture brands such as Callerton and Stoneham, as well as German manufacturers Poggenpohl and Leicht. It has partnerships with premium appliance brands Gaggenau, Siemens, and Sub-Zero & Wolf.

Mr Johnston, formerly of Three UK and Optical Express, said: “Our structure and talented team provide a strong platform to grow sustainably, and as an independently owned business we can operate with greater focus and agility – investing in our people, our partners, and the spaces we create for our clients.”
