I am a mostly-retired income investor. A past journalistic sojourn (“painful” employment) enabled me to hone my statistical analysis skills which transferred well to personal portfolio management. Now I get to write about something I enjoy sharing. I hope you find my perspective and analysis helpful in building your own portfolio, as I apply my skills and experience to pick out the best income ETFs and warn about those declining in quality before they eat themselves alive. Let’s protect and build our NAV while optimizing income! Besides being a spreadsheet nerd, my professional background includes software engineering (back when we called it computer programming). I moved to a healthcare profession that again honed my research and analytical skills, except this time it was helping people recover from injuries. Now I’m just a lazy retired person spending about four hours a day managing our investments which include apartment syndications along with two investment portfolios. The difference is, I love what I’m doing now, turning research and analysis skills into gainful employment. Income investing is about creating the lifestyle you desire. For me, that includes being a certified Master Gardener which enables me to give back to the community and help others enjoy their lifestyle. Find your passion and fund it!
