He declined to disclose the amount invested or the size of Ripple\u2019s shareholding in the company.<\/p>\n<p>Read: Amex sets sights on Africa in move to tempt users away from cash<\/p>\n<p>The startup was valued at more than $3 billion in a 2022 funding round.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are getting capital as they have invested cash in us\u201d and deep access to payment infrastructure across the continent, Agboola said.<\/p>\n<p>Ripple\u2019s interest in Flutterwave stems from a shared goal of \u201cmoving money quicker and better,\u201d he said. Unlike others who are \u201cparticipating at commercial level, they\u2019re participating at the equity level, which means obviously they get to participate on the upside,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<div class=\"visible-sm-block visible-xs-block m1010\">\n<div class=\"ad-container-wrapper\">\n<p>ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>CONTINUE READING BELOW<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The deal reflects the strategic fit between the two companies as demand grows for faster and cheaper cross-border payments across Africa.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Ripple, which provides crypto solutions to businesses in more than 90 countries, has been expanding its presence on the continent through\u00a0partnerships with South Africa\u2019s Absa Bank and payments provider Chipper Cash.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Flutterwave, which operates in 35 African nations, has been building its own digital-assets business.
