The hospital expansion forms part of a targeted growth model managed by Growthpoint Investment Partners, the fund management business of JSE-listed Growthpoint Properties, which oversees approximately R7.3 billion in specialised assets under management across South Africa.<\/p>\n
The capital investment is directed toward expanding critical surgical capacity and specialised care infrastructure inside the fast-growing coastal medical node.<\/p>\n
\nNew infrastructure rollout at Busamed Gateway combines completed surgical updates with active clinical construction. The facility has already brought a seventh operating theatre into service, which has been fully functional since January 2026.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
Furthermore, a newly completed 18-bed unit has been handed over, dividing capacity between 12 intensive care unit (ICU) beds and six high care beds to expand the hospital\u2019s high-dependency treatment footprint.<\/p>\n
Rafeek Nakooda, hospital manager at Busamed Gateway Private Hospital, emphasised that the infrastructure intervention directly updates the facility\u2019s ability to manage high-volume medical cases.<\/p>\n

Nakooda noted that these additions tie directly into a broader infrastructure overhaul at the site.<\/p>\n

The project represents a deeper commercial partnership between the healthcare real estate fund and Busamed.<\/p>\n
Busamed currently operates three flagship assets inside the GHPH property portfolio namely, Busamed Gateway Private Hospital, Busamed Hillcrest Private Hospital, west of Durban, and Busamed Paardevlei Private Hospital in Cape Town.<\/p>\n
