The study also suggests that while AI is changing the nature of work, the change is not all positive.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cognitive load<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nearly half the respondents said they spend more time managing and directing AI than doing the work itself. And while about two-thirds of regular AI users said the technology has improved job satisfaction, about 41% said it had increased cognitive load. That\u2019s creating what the authors called a \u201cjoy paradox,\u201d where AI makes work better and harder at the same time.<\/p>\n<div class=\"visible-sm-block visible-xs-block m1010\">\n<div class=\"ad-container-wrapper\">\n<p>ADVERTISEMENT:<\/p>\n<p>CONTINUE READING BELOW<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cThe joy equation rewrites itself within a year of using AI,\u201d said BCG\u2019s Sylvain Duranton, another co-author of the report. \u201cEarly on, AI\u2019s novelty and cognitive stretch fuel enjoyment, but that \u2018AI honeymoon\u2019 fades without strategic clarity.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>For its study, BCG surveyed nearly 12 000 workers across industries in 14 countries and regions, examining AI adoption, workforce expectations, leadership and organisational transformation.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The survey highlights the emergence of AI agents, with 30% of respondents saying such tools are now integrated into workflows \u2014 more than double the number from a year earlier.
