{"id":4459,"date":"2026-05-28T06:38:59","date_gmt":"2026-05-28T06:38:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fintechpulse8.com\/?p=4459"},"modified":"2026-05-28T06:38:59","modified_gmt":"2026-05-28T06:38:59","slug":"sse-reducing-uks-exposure-to-volatile-markets-daily-business","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fintechpulse8.com\/?p=4459","title":{"rendered":"SSE &#8216;reducing UK&#8217;s exposure to volatile markets&#8217; \u2013 Daily Business"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dailybusinessgroup.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/SSEN-power-line-and-pylon.png\" alt=\"SSEN power line and pylon for grid\" class=\"wp-image-180297 lazyload\" style=\"width:821px;height:auto\"\/><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"794\" height=\"525\" src=\"https:\/\/dailybusinessgroup.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/SSEN-power-line-and-pylon.png\" alt=\"SSEN power line and pylon for grid\" class=\"wp-image-180297 lazyload\" style=\"width:821px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dailybusinessgroup.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/SSEN-power-line-and-pylon.png 794w, https:\/\/dailybusinessgroup.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/SSEN-power-line-and-pylon-300x198.png 300w, https:\/\/dailybusinessgroup.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/SSEN-power-line-and-pylon-768x508.png 768w, https:\/\/dailybusinessgroup.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/SSEN-power-line-and-pylon-600x397.png 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 794px) 100vw, 794px\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>SSE\u2019s grid build-out is on track<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Energy company SSE said its record level of capital investment is reducing the UK\u2019s exposure to volatile global energy markets, according to its chief executive.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">The Perth-based company said its \u00a333 billion investment plan to 2030 is well under way, with \u00a33.6bn delivered, and it is guiding towards the upper end of its financial forecast.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Full year 2026\/27 capex is expected to significantly increase to over \u00a35bn, with net debt continuing to be comfortably within the group\u2019s recently reaffirmed strong investment grade credit ratings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Construction is under way on five of the 11 major transmission projects, representing around a third of planned transmission investment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">About 75% of major transmission consents have now been received, with the remainder in progress.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Construction is also progressing at Dogger Bank with turbine installation stage at Phase A completed in February 2026, and there has been strong installation progress on Phase B with 20 turbines installed to date.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">The company was successful in UK Allocation Round 7 for the 1.4GW Berwick Bank Phase B project, with the remaining 2.7GW of capacity expected to be eligible for the accelerated Allocation Round 8 auction later this calendar year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">The 150MW Ferrybridge Battery Energy Storage System entered full operation in March 2026.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Reported operating profit of \u00a31.889 billion reflects a net \u00a3157.7m re-measurement charge, \u00a384.7m group restructuring costs and \u00a377.9m net asset impairments.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Martin Pibworth, chief executive, said: \u201cThis year has demonstrated the strength and resilience of SSE\u2019s integrated model. We met all our financial and operational targets and delivery of our fully-funded \u00a333bn investment plan to 2030 \u2013 focusing on Networks, Renewables and Flexibility \u2013 is well under way. <\/p>\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThat investment is central to long?term value creation.
