{"id":11753,"date":"2026-07-12T00:08:42","date_gmt":"2026-07-12T00:08:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fintechpulse8.com\/?p=11753"},"modified":"2026-07-12T00:08:42","modified_gmt":"2026-07-12T00:08:42","slug":"ukraine-building-patriots-is-in-lockheeds-interest-mccaul-says","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fintechpulse8.com\/?p=11753","title":{"rendered":"Ukraine building Patriots is in Lockheed\u2019s interest, McCaul says"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/img-assets\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/GettyImages-1246848487-e1783811133403.jpg?w=2048\" \/><\/p>\n<div id=\"\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">US defense contractors including Lockheed Martin Corp. have every interest to let Ukraine manufacture Patriot missile interceptors after President Donald Trump pledged the US would grant a license for the weapons system, a senior Republican lawmaker said.<\/p>\n<div class=\"paywall\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI think it\u2019s in their best interest to do so for many factors,\u201d Representative Michael McCaul, a House Foreign Affairs Committee member from Texas, said Saturday on\u00a0<em>Bloomberg This Weekend<\/em>\u00a0when asked whether Lockheed would license the technology. \u201cIf the president wants this done, it\u2019s in their best interest to comply with that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has long pleaded with the US and other allies to supply more interceptors to fend off Russian ballistic missile attacks that have devastated targets, including cities, during more than four years of full-scale war.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Trump told Zelenskyy during a meeting at a NATO summit this week that the US will be \u201cgiving a license to you\u201d to make Patriots, which also includes technology from RTX Corp.\u2019s Raytheon unit.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">McCaul was interviewed while in Ukraine, where he said Ukrainian military officials briefed him on home-grown drone technology and their forces\u2019 advances in retaking Russian-occupied territory.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI think Ukrainians can build this thing faster, and maybe even better,\u201d he said, referring to Patriots. \u201cSo Lockheed could learn something from the Ukrainians about their own interceptors \u2014 how to improve them, how to manufacture them more quickly.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"flex flex-col layout-gap-md\">\n<div class=\"not-prose empty:contents [:has(*[data-empty=true])]:hidden clear-both\">\n<div class=\"typography-level-4 mt-4 font-graphik-compact [&amp;_*_a]:hover:underline [&amp;_*_a]:text-accent\" data-cy=\"subscriptionPlea\"><span class=\"description-parser contents\" data-cy=\"description\"><strong>Subscribe to\u00a0Fortune Gulf Brief<\/strong>.
