Billionaire Bernard Arnault and his wife have been assessed with nearly \u20ac22.5 million ($25.7 million) in additional taxes, according to a recent decision by the Paris administrative court of appeal cited by AFP.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The chief executive officer of the global luxury goods conglomerate LVMH and his wife must pay French authorities \u20ac12.96 million in \u201cadditional contributions\u201d \u2014 including taxes, social contributions, surcharges and late payment interest \u2014 for 2010, and \u20ac9.5 million in respect to France\u2019s wealth solidarity tax for the years 2012 through 2015, according to the decision\u00a0published on July 2\u00a0on the website of the administrative body.<\/p>\n

The court\u2019s ruling \u201cwill be appealed to the Council of State,\u201d a spokesman for Arnault told AFP on Saturday.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Public relations spokespeople for Arnault didn\u2019t immediately reply to a request for comment from Bloomberg.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Arnault is France\u2019s \u2014 and Europe\u2019s \u2014 richest person and currently the eighth richest in the world, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, with a net worth of about $165 billion.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The heart of the matter concerns the \u201ccomplex shareholding\u201d of \u00a0LVMH Mo\u00ebt Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE, according to the online media outlet l\u2019Inform\u00e9, which first reported the administrative court\u2019s ruling.\u00a0<\/p>\n

During the investigation, France requested assistance from Luxembourg and the Bahamas, according to the decision.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
